Making Films; the Cost.

So, we're in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to make two short films; Not Waving, a silent short-film about loneliness and the British seaside and Lawnmower, a comedy short-film about over thinking, self-sabotage and a woman that needs a lawnmower.

We are trying to raise a minimum of £5,000. It seems like a lot, especially this early in the campaign. We've got just under two months to raise the £5K though, so there's everything to play for.

So, should enough people donate and we meet (or exceed!) our target what will we spend our donors hard earned cash on? Well, that's quite simple really, there are just three categories of stuff we'll be spending money on.

£1,100 is the minimum that we can make these two films on. This amount of money will cover cast and crew food and travel plus other unavoidable costs like insurance and location fees and a tiny bit will go on costume and props, though we generally try to source these through friends and from within the company to save on costs.

To pay all of our artists a day rate (for filming and in post production in the editing suite, music studio, design studio) adds up pretty quickly- we believe that artists should be paid for their talents (hell, we are artists!) and so this is our second priority to raise funds for. So, unless people elect to make specific investment to film festival submissions or to purchase an executive producer all donations will go to artists wages once the basic expenses of filming are covered.

Next priority is getting our work out into the world. There's not much point making work unless people see it! By submitting each film to 40+ festivals worldwide we have the best chance of your investment turning into more than just a few days filming. The exposure of the films at festivals worldwide means that the stories get seen by great numbers of people, hopefully ameliorating their lives and possibly providing hope, escapism and a change of view long after the 11 minutes of each film has passed.

Not only this but it allows the film to be judged on merit, representing British Film on the world stage and also allows each artist involved to have their work appraised in what can be career changing ways. The selection of these films has the ability to elevate careers and make connections in our very difficult industry, in a very unique way that is worth every penny. Each film festival costs between £15-£45 to submit to- we're aiming for each film to be completed by the beginning of October which will hopefully mean we hit most of the Early Bird prices on the 2018 festival season submissions- which means we will be able to stretch the money to as many submissions as possible.

We are now in the first week of our crowdfunding campaign, it'd be great to get off to a head-start. So if you fancy helping us out to make the films, pay the team and show the films then please head over to Indiegogo WATCH our campaign video, DONATE to our campaign by picking one of our great levels of PERKS and then SHARE our campaign so more people!
